Indoor Air Quality

In the past few years, scientific research has indicated that the air inside our homes contains more pollutants than the air outdoors. Other studies have also stated that people spend 90% of their time indoors. For many people this increases health risks from indoor pollution exposure.

It’s surprising how much your home’s heating and air conditioning systems have to do with your health. Most people have experienced a home full of allergens, a home that’s too hot or cold, or a home that was too dry or humid, but there are more serious health concerns when it comes to your home’s indoor air quality. There are a variety of contaminants that can be polluting the air in your home including dust, pollen, pet dander, mold, bacteria, viruses and even harmful chemicals from your cleaning supplies. Indoor air pollutants can cause many different types of health problems, including eye, nose, and throat irritation, dizziness, headaches, asthma, and fatigue.

There is a possibility that indoor air pollutants could eventually cause respiratory disease, heart disease, and even cancer. Humidity and indoor moisture issues will affect the comfort of your home as well as the air that you and your family are breathing. High humidity levels are an ideal environment for contaminants to grow. Mold, mildew, bacteria, and other germs will grow in the air you breathe, then can be circulated throughout your home through the air your heating and cooling system moves. Low moisture levels can cause skin irritation, sore throat, and respiratory issues. Even if your family doesn’t exhibit these noticeable symptoms, your safest choice of action would be to improve the air quality of your home.

  • Humidifiers - used to add moisture to the dry air in your home, potentially reducing dry-skin problems and even making you feel warmer!

  • Dehumidifiers - designed to remove moisture from the air, reducing the chance of potential mold and bacteria growth in your home!

  • Air Scrubbers/ UV Lights - designed to attach to your system, they treat evaporator coils to prevent mold, mildew, and bacterial growth, some release “friendly ions” to seek and destroy contaminants circulating throughout your home, even surface bacteria doesn't stand a chance!

  • Air Cleaners/ Air Filters - designed to capture dirt, mold and other pollutants, air cleaners should be washed and air filters should be changed on a regular basis to improve indoor air quality!

  • Duct Cleaning - a fresh start for your heating and air conditioning system, designed to remove dust and dirt that has accumulated inside the duct system, helping to destroy the environment that dust mites, bed bugs, and other live contaminants thrive in!

It is important that you know what affects your home’s air quality and to be able to recognize the symptoms of polluted air. The earlier you recognize the problem the easier it is to take care of that problem!
